Originally named Kellett

Kellett was established in 1908 as manufacturer and repairer of laminated road springs.

It became a limited company in 1919 but eventually the manufacturing interests were sold as a going concern.

After recognising the market for non-original truck and trailer spares, the company focused on the distribution of replacement components for this growing sector of the market place. With its management team and dedicated staff the business was turned from a manufacturer into a wholesale distribution company.

During 1995 the business was sold to Spaldings' group of companies, taking it into new areas of business such as Agricultural and Tools

In 1999 Kellett was sold to Lex Group of companies and initially renamed Multipart Kellett until finally being named Multipart Universal. Within the PLC group opportunities were opened up with DAF and PSV, along with Fleet Serve and Transfleet service depots having managed stores. MOD Contracts also being serviced.

At the end of September 2004 Multipart Universal was purchased by Gary Hadley. Renaming the company Universal Components UK Ltd and becoming an independent operation.

Universal Components today is an active company that includes a thriving export business, selling to over thirty countries in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia. Our philosophy is the customer is king. We will ensure that we do everything to meet our customers needs and surpass them.
